This year’s Seacoast Regional Meeting will be a training on Mindfulness.
Sarah Wagner, School Psychologist and Hannah Mariotti, Licensed Mental Health Counselor will be presenting this two hour training in the spring.
Mindfulness is the art of paying attention to the present moment without judgment. There is a growing body of research showing that cultivating mindfulness can help children and adults alike enhance their ability to focus and sustain attention, regulate emotions and behavior, and decrease stress and anxiety. Mindfulness in schools has helped students improve academic and social skills and increase self-esteem. This presentation will explore the meaning of mindfulness, how it works and what the latest research says about how effective it is and for whom. Participants will walk away with a toolkit of mindfulness techniques and activities for use in the classroom and with individual students.
Mindfulness is also a tool to improve self-care and can be shared with colleagues for stress reduction.
