  • Greater Manchester Professional Development Center 530 South Porter Street Manchester, NH 03103

UNDERSTANDING BULLYING WITH DR. MALCOLM SMITH: In this dynamic and approach-changing session, Dr. Malcolm Smith, a nationally recognized expert, will present clear and effective strategies for recognizing bullying, intervening with bullies and their victims, and creating a school climate and culture that is less mean. Dr. Smith is one of the co-authors of New Hampshire’s bullying law and has been researching the topic for over 30 years. His presentations have helped thousands of educators, parents, administrators and juvenile court professionals become more aware and more effective in combatting the bullying epidemic.

4 MINUTES A DAY WITH E.C. BERNARD: Do you want to help the student who is safe in the classroom but is bullied in the hallways? We will discuss the difference between "entertainment bullying" and "personal bullying" in middle and high school, and learn to discern the bullies’ true "alpha audience." We will also explore why entertainment bullies tend to target students on the autism spectrum, especially those mainstreamed with Aspergers as well as non-diagnosed Asperger-like students. Learn how to help the parents of victims to guide their child to be less of a target, especially as they transition to a new building, and how to help administrators to create time and space for this project.
